Fiorentina and Hellas Verona are competing with Celtic for the signing of Norwich City striker Adam Idah, according to reports.
The Scottish champions have long been linked with a permanent deal for their former loan striker, with City holding out for a higher valuation than they've been prepared to offer for the 23-year-old.
Now TeamTalk have stated that the two Serie A sides will look to capitalise on the inactivity by tempting Idah into a move to Italy.
The Irish international is currently in Austria as Johannes Hoff Thorup's side ramp up their preparations for the 2024-25 season. He sat out Friday's 1-0 loss to Magdeburg with a minor knock, but is expected to feature tomorrow when the Canaries face Hoffenheim.
Verona hold a long-term interest in Idah, and were keen to sign him when he initially joined Celtic in the January transfer window.
He chose the Hoops, however, and went on to enjoy a successful spell north of the border. He scored nine goals and claimed two assists in 19 appearances for Brendan Rodgers' side, including a late Scottish Cup final winner against bitter rivals Glasgow Rangers.
Rodgers has been open about his desire to sign the Norwich number 11, but counterpart Johannes Hoff Thorup is a fan of his and has featured him in the Canaries' pre-season plans.
“The transfer window is open and there will be a lot of rumours and speculations," he said after the Magdeburg defeat. "But the players are focused.
“Most of the fans saw Adam here at the stadium in the open training session on Wednesday afternoon. But as you can see, he was also here again and watching the game as well.
“We have to be patient. With Adam it was just a small knock, and of course no risks to be taken in the situation we're in now. No need for that.
"Josh (Sargent) is just about getting back into shape. He's training with the team, but it is likely we give minutes to both of them in Austria."
