A 1-0 defeat to Bundesliga Two side Magdeburg on Friday night left Thorup signalling that this week would be one that saw decisions taken on who would be in consideration for their Championship campaign.

Norwich are hoping to afford some minutes to goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who has been nursing a hand injury, Josh Sargent and Adam Idah after all missed the Carrow Road clash.

Christian Fassnacht also looks poised to return, but Ashley Barnes is still sidelined after undergoing surgery on a calf injury that affected him towards the conclusion of last season.

New signing Jose Cordoba will be hoping to add to his fitness reserves with more minutes tonight.

The test represents a significant step up for the Canaries, with Hoffenheim finishing seventh in the Bundesliga last year and gearing up for Europa League football in the upcoming campaign.

Pellegrino Matarazzo's men are set for an East Anglian double header this week, starting with Norwich today before facing local rivals Ipswich in nearby Kufstein on Saturday ahead of their Premier League campaign.

Hoffenheim's squad contains ex-Leicester Premier League winner Andrej Kramaric, former Burnley winger Jacob Bruun Larsen and one-time Norwich loanee Ozan Kabak, although he is currently sidelined with a serious knee injury that ruled him out of the Euros.

The game takes place at the Koasastadion stadium in St Johann in the Tirol region of Northern Austria. This is the second successive year that Norwich have toured in the region, having faced Toulouse in 2023.

Norwich will remain in Austria until Friday before jetting back to Norfolk ahead of Saturday's final pre-season game against newly promoted Bundesliga outfit St Pauli.
