Norwich City have had calls from clubs inquiring about Abu Kamara after his transfer request - but Portsmouth boss John Mousinho insisted Pompey have not stepped up their bid to bring him back to Fratton Park.

Kamara and his camp indicated he wanted out with a written transfer request, that was made public on Tuesday.

Southampton, Hull City, Anderlecht and Celtic have all been touted as potential suitors during the close season, after an impressive season-long loan stint at Pompey in a League One title-winning campaign.

City were in talks over a new contract for Kamara as recently as this month, but the 21-year-old's future is now up in the air ahead of the August 30 transfer deadline.

Norwich have yet to still receive any firm offers for a player with 12 months left on his existing deal. plus a further one-year club option.

Now Mousinho has played down rising expectations among the Pompey fan base they can lure Kamara back to the south coast.

"It’s the same spot with Abu," he was quoted as saying in the Portsmouth News. "I know he’s contracted at Norwich but we don’t mind speaking about him because he was here last year.

"We’re in exactly the same position with Abu as last week, there’s been no movement on that."

Norwich officials view Kamara as part of an exciting crop of young talent at Carrow Road, with the likes of Ken Aboh, Brad Hills and Gabe Forsyth penning new deals this summer.

City adopted a tough negotiating stance with Gabby Sara, Adam Idah and now Jon Rowe, as he closes in on a move to Marseille. Kamara will only leave in the final  week of this window if a club matches their valuation for the wantaway winger.

Norwich head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup will update on whether Kamara is part of his plans for this weekend's Championship home game against Sheffield United when he holds his pre-match press call at Colney, scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Kamara has so far had two cameos from the bench in the opening league games against Oxford and Blackburn.
