City have the chance to extend their proud unbeaten Carrow Road run to 24 matches and 12 months by avoiding defeat this afternoon. That is twice as long as any other run in the EFL and bettered only by Manchester City.
They will attempt to do that without goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who has had two injections on his side strain but remains in pain. Johannes Hoff Thorup expects him to be sidelined for another two weeks - which will likely put him out until after the next international break.
Marcelino Nunez has a similar timeline as Norwich adopt a conservative approach on nursing him back to full fitness after he limped out of last Saturday's draw against Stoke.
Christian Fassnacht is closing in on a return to training, while Jacob Sorensen could be in line for minutes for the first Championship game since that opening day defeat to Oxford United in August.
Onel Hernandez, Liam Gibbs and Ashley Barnes remain sidelined as well as young winger Tony Springett.
Middlesbrough are without Dael Fry, Darragh Lenihan, Alex Gilbert, Tommy Smith, Lukas Engel and Alex Bangura for Sunday's trip, but were boosted by the return of Matt Clarke, Jonny Howson and Tommy Conway in the last week.
Michael Carrick boasts a 100pc managerial record against Norwich, winning all four of his encounters in charge of Boro against the Canaries, including two at Carrow Road.
Middlesbrough boast impressive underlying numbers but are yet to convert that into a consistent stream of results. Their midweek victory over Sheffield United came after back-to-back defeats to Watford and Bristol City.
