Cardiff defender Perry Ng has claimed that Norwich City 'bottled it' due to the atmosphere created in the final stages of last weekend's 2-1 defeat in South Wales.

City conceded twice after the 89th minute to lose to the Welsh side after Borja Sainz's wondergoal in the second half put them ahead.

A depleted Canaries squad nearly held out to record an impressive and hard-fought victory, but goals from Callum Robinson and Callum O'Dowda condemned them to a defeat in the Welsh capital.

City were without key operators including goalkeeper Angus Gunn, striker Josh Sargent and key midfield trio Kenny McLean, Anis Ben Slimane and Marcelino Nunez alongside others for that defeat last weekend.

Cardiff were also without key players but are rejuvenated since interim boss Omer Riza took up and is enjoying a six-game unbeaten run in the Championship that has pushed them up the table.

Ng was unavailable owing to a yellow card suspension but watched on alongside interim boss Riza and his colleagues, celebrating alongside them when O'Dowda's winner crashed into the net in the 93rd minute.

The defender has credited the Cardiff supporters with amping up the atmosphere in the final stages of that contest, which he believes made Norwich crack.

“The [finish] to the game was class,” Ng told Wales Online. “I feel more pressure when I’m not playing to be honest, but it was boss; me, Rallsy (Joe Ralls) and Robbo (Alex Robertson) were behind the bench celebrating and we felt like proper fans in the moment! It was a nice experience, but it’ll be even nicer being back on the pitch tomorrow, hopefully.

“I think when the fans really got behind us in the second half, Norwich bottled it a little bit. The atmosphere caused that. It was maybe a bit quiet in the first half, but our fans have been brilliant the past few weeks.”
