Boyhood Norwich City fan and academy striker Finlay Corke has penned a new professional contract at the club.

Corke has signed his first professional deal a week after celebrating his 17th birthday, agreeing terms until 2027 having broken into the under-18s set-up last season for the first time.

The striker is now a regular part of that squad and has seen his game time increase this season, scoring two goals in seven Premier League U18 matches.

Corke has been free-scoring in the younger age groups, impressing City’s academy hierarchy enough to earn a professional contract just four months after agreeing to become a first-year scholar.

It represents the next step of the teenager’s career - and he is proud to continue his journey with his boyhood club.

"I'm delighted to sign my first professional contract at Norwich,” Corke told the club’s channels. “It's a massive moment for me and my family, it's my boyhood club that I've watched since I was young. I've had a season ticket here, it's a nice feeling for me and my family.

"It's an honour to play for the club. I've seen players come through and it's a massive honour to be here and hopefully it's my chance to be the next thing for Norwich."

Corke is eyeing up a step up to City’s U21 squad before the end of the season to continue his upward trajectory.

“(I look up to) Josh Sargent and Ashley Barnes. They are both strikers and like to score goals.

”I’d say that I’m a classic number nine, I like to hold the ball up, try to get in behind and score goals with different sorts of finishes,” he said.

“I was injured at the start of the season but I’ve come back and managed to have scored a few goals and create some. I’ve started pretty well but you can always do more. My goal is to try and break into the under 21s.”

City U18s sit eighth having won and drawn three of their opening nine matches - Greg Crane and Adem Atay‘s side return to action against West Ham this weekend.
